Dr. Doug States has special interests in Endoscopy, both EGD and colonoscopy. He performs weekly procedures at Bryan Health in Lincoln with the residents enrolled in the Endoscopy curriculum. His other interests include Chronic Disease Management and Inpatient Medicine. He brings a passion for leadership development, professional development, personal growth, office culture, mentoring, and medical politics. He enjoys utilizing innovative processes to train the best family medicine doctors in the Midwest. 

Dr. States and his wife of 30 years, spend a good deal of time with their children, grandchildren, and grand-dogs. He enjoys exercise, biking, hiking, traveling, golfing, hunting and fishing, and describes himself as an amateur carpenter and woodworker. Dr. States enjoys being a resource, a curator of helpful information, and an inspiration to the people in his life.

Dr. States grew up in North Platte, Nebraska. He earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Following his training in Family Medicine at Clarkson College in Omaha, Dr. States returned to North Platte where he co-founded a private family medical group and where he continues to practice part-time. He joined the faculty at Lincoln Family Medicine Residency in 2016, bringing over 20 years of experience as a sole proprietor in a full-scope rural practice.
