Ryan Christensen, DO
Third-year Resident

During his high school years, Ryan Christensen, DO, participated in a medical explorer post at a hospital in his hometown of Pleasant Grove, Utah. This was when he first realized he wanted to become a physician. The program provided a wonderful opportunity to learn about the field of medicine and the various professions it offered. About that same time, his mom had been diagnosed with Thyroid cancer through a preventive health screening, and thankfully, to this day she is cancer-free. Both of these experiences helped define his desire to be that kind of a family physician – helping others live healthy lives and building long-term relationships with his patients.

Dr. Christensen was impressed with what Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program offers residents, including more procedural training and education, a strong OB curriculum, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, and Point of Care Ultrasound that will help prepare him to be the best physician he can be. Following residency, he hopes to work in a rural, underserved area as a full-spectrum family medicine provider.

When it comes to giving one piece of advice to patients, Dr. Christensen reminds them that they are ultimately in charge of their own health so they shouldn't hesitate to speak up or ask questions if they are uncomfortable or uncertain about any diagnosis or treatment plan. He wants his patients to know that he is there to help them live the life they want to live.

Dr. Christensen says his best decision was to marry his wife, and have three energetic, fun-loving children. His parents are his role models, providing him with the best examples of hard work, patience, and honesty throughout their lives. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, doing auto repairs, and cooking, specifically trying out new and interesting recipes. While he is a bleed-blue BYU Cougar fan, Dr. Christensen is certain he can learn to cheer for the Cornhuskers.
